Best of 2020
Honestly, I was not planning on going through my past year to pick my favorite images to showcase because...2020.
2020 was a doozy to my industry, to say the least. It tested me mentally and spiritually and when I thought I had it figured out, it tested me some more. It's interesting running your own business, making your own rules. Besides hurting for my income, my sense of self, I also hurt for all of my couples that had to change (and rechange, change again) their plans. While feeling lonely, I knew that no one was alone in what the past year brought.
While my year looked NOTHING like it was supposed to, it still happened. I didn't shoot the weddings that I was supposed to and while I call myself a "wedding photographer" I am also an "anything photographer". I love families. Families kept me afloat this year.
Y'all, I did 60 family sessions between June-December. I put the word out that I was offering mini sessions and the call was answered. I've never met so many new families in a year. I can't fully explain how those sessions kept me going, kept my brain happy and my fingers snapping. While it wasn't my regular year, full of weddings and crazy schedules and losing my voice from being overworked, it was a year full of love. Not the love that I anticipated, but the love that I needed. Sprinkle in some of the most intimate weddings I've ever gotten to be a part of and wow, 2020 wasn't as scary to look back on as I'd thought.
So, here are my favorites from 2020. I have no clue what 2021 will look like and I'm not even pretending to guess but I am still here. Still photographing, still feeling lucky for what I can do, still hoping to meet and capture as much as I can.
